Jean Vigo was a gifted and influential French filmmaker who died at a very young age. Zero de Conduite (Zero for Conduct) is a story of anarchistic rebellion in a 1930's French boarding school. The cinematographer was Boris Kaufman, younger brother of Dziga Vertov. Here's a version that lives on YouTube:
However I recommend you take a look at the Criterion version. In addition to the beautiful transfer, it includes all of Vigo's films along with learned commentary from Michael Temple, author of Jean Vigo.
